Following Christ's example and as an expression of our faith we at St. David's are involved in a number of outreach ministries in which we strive to bring God's love to the people and communities we serve.
If you would like further information about these and our other ministries, please call the church office at 905-734-4627.
Monthly Hope Centre Lunches
Each month volunteers from our church prepare and serve a hearty lunch to about 50 adults and children in need here in Welland. The food for this meal is donated by members of our church. To access the Hope Centre's website, click here.Photo published with permission of The Welland Tribune.
Weekly Food & Household Products Collection
Food and household products are collected on weekly basis and delivered to the Hope Centre to assist their clients.
Davy Bear Ministry
Davy Bears are given to children who are in need of comfort and prayers for reasons such as illness, the loss of a loved one, or in times of stress--to name just a few. In this way, we can share the love of God.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are given to people to bring them comfort. They might be in need of this comfort for a number reasons. For example, someone might be undergoing a medical procedure, experiencing loss or stress, in need of prayer, or going through a period of illness and/or recovery. Prayer shawls are also a heartwarming gift at marriage ceremonies or when a baby is born. In all these instances the love of God surrounds each person so they know how deeply cared for they are.
Affordable Clothing Store
St. David’s Affordable Clothing Store is a place to buy affordable clothing for the community of Welland. The clothing is new or gently used and reasonably priced. There are clothes for all ages and all seasons. Along with clothes there are shoes, hats, and jewelry.
The clothing store is open every Friday from 2 pm to 5 pm and the second Saturday of each month from 9 am to 12. We look forward to serving you!
Family Gym is where we offer free gymnasium play time for families of any dynamic! Everyone is welcome: parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, tikes, 'tweens and teens! You don't need to be an athlete... just bring your love for each other and have fun!

Use of Our Building by Community Groups
For no or minimal cost our building is used by the scouting and guiding movements and the Brain Injury Association of Niagara.
Our other outreach ministries are organized by month as follows:
January: Sock Sunday
To assist families and individuals who are struggling to clothe themselves, we encourage our members to donate socks during January. This year (2019) 380 pairs of socks were donated.
February: Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund
Money we donate to this fund is used to assist people who have suffered from such disasters as earthquakes, hurricanes, drought and war in underdeveloped and developing countries. Our donations also fund programs to help people from these countries become more self-sufficient.
Although donations to this fund are made on an ongoing basis and updates on the work done through this agency are published monthly in The Journal, our national church newspaper, on a Sunday during this month we also stress what is being accomplished through our donations.
February: Hygiene Sunday
Donations are collected for the Hygiene Bank at Holy Trinity, Welland.
March: Sleeping Children Around the World
Donations to this organization are used to provide bed kits to children of underdeveloped and developing countries. One complete bed kit costs $35 and provides a child with a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net (when required), a clothing outfit, and school supplies. Since this agency was founded in 1970, bed kits have been distributed to children in 33 countries. In 2009, a millionth child received a bed kit.
This year our donations have made it possible for 25 children to receive bed kits.
April: Undies Sunday
In April we encourage our members to donate underwear for adults and children in need. Last April, 207 items were donated by our members.
Mother’s Day to Father’s Day: Baby Bottle Campaign for Elisha House
Baby Bottles are handed out for our members to fill with contributions to support the work of Elisha House, Welland, a pregnancy and family support centre. This year our members donated almost $550 to Elisha House.
June: Giving with Grace
Giving with Grace (previously Anglican Appeal), is the fresh face of Anglican generosity in support of God’s mission on a national level.
October: Thanksgiving Food Drive
In addition to collecting regular donations of food for the Hope Centre, we have an annual food drive this month to assist our neighbours in need.
November: Bundle-up Sunday
To assist those in need of winter clothing, we donate mittens, gloves, hats, toques, and scarves this time of year.
Last November, 179 items of winter clothing were donated.
November: Seafarers Sunday
A Christmas Parcel Drive takes place to collect shoe boxes filled with small gifts for seafarers visiting the port of Montreal during December.
December: Pyjama and Book Drive
For children who might not otherwise receive Christmas presents, donations of sleepwear and books are collected early this month to ensure they are received by Christmas.
