Davy Bears are given to children who are in need of comfort and prayers for reasons such as illness, the loss of a loved one, or in times of stress--to name just a few. In this way, we can share the love of God.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are given to people to bring them comfort. They might be in need of this comfort for a number reasons. For example, someone might be undergoing a medical procedure, experiencing loss or stress, in need of prayer, or going through a period of illness and/or recovery. Prayer shawls are also a heartwarming gift at marriage ceremonies or when a baby is born. In all these instances the love of God surrounds each person so they know how deeply cared for they are.
Weekly Food & Household Products Collection
Food and household products are collected on weekly basis and is shared between the St. David's Food Pantry and the Hope Centre.
Use of Our Building by Community Groups
For no or minimal cost our building is used by the scouting and guiding movements and the Brain Injury Association of Niagara.
Our other outreach ministries are organized by month as follows:
January: Sock Sunday
To assist families and individuals who are struggling to clothe themselves, we encourage our members to donate socks during January.
February: Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund
Money we donate to this fund is used to assist people who have suffered from such disasters as earthquakes, hurricanes, drought and war in underdeveloped and developing countries. Our donations also fund programs to help people from these countries become more self-sufficient.
Although donations to this fund are made on an ongoing basis and updates on the work done through this agency are published monthly in The Journal, our national church newspaper, on a Sunday during this month we also stress what is being accomplished through our donations.
February: Hygiene Sunday
Donations are collected for the Hygiene Bank at Holy Trinity, Welland.
March: Sleeping Children Around the World
Donations to this organization are used to provide bed kits to children of underdeveloped and developing countries. One complete bed kit costs $35 and provides a child with a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net (when required), a clothing outfit, and school supplies. Since this agency was founded in 1970, bed kits have been distributed to children in 33 countries.
April: Undies Sunday
In April we encourage our members to donate underwear for adults and children in need.
June: Giving with Grace
Giving with Grace (previously Anglican Appeal), is the fresh face of Anglican generosity in support of God’s mission on a national level.
October: Thanksgiving Food Drive
In addition to collecting regular donations of food for the Hope Centre, we have an annual food drive this month to assist our neighbours in need.
November: Bundle-up Sunday
To assist those in need of winter clothing, we donate mittens, gloves, hats, toques, and scarves this time of year.
November: Seafarers Donation
A donation is made to The Mission to Seafarers.
December: Pyjama and Book Drive
For children who might not otherwise receive Christmas presents, donations of sleepwear and books are collected early this month to ensure they are received by Christmas.
